The Riverside, Stowmarket & Caged Asylum Mancheste
More good times on the road last weekend. Friday saw Mentallica journey South to Stowmarket in Suffolk and The Riverside Club. A great venue. Fleece and Matt provided a great sound only tempered by an enforced lack of volume . . . neighbours eh! But we have been barred from some venues for being too loud and as a place we want to return to we were happy for a quiter show! Thanks to everyone who came, had a good time and drank beer! Also thanks to the folks who came backstage to chat and get T-shirts. . . You travelled so far! Thank You.
Saturday brought one of the events of the year. A trip to Manchesters Caged Asylum. A sterling venue with a sound system capable of causing earthquakes . . . wait one darned moment. . . . Earthquake in Chile? Coincidence?. . . this reporter thinks not! Many thanks to Dave for creating a stunning sound. The curse of the Nothing Else Matters guitar struck again as Aid, sporting his most recent acquisition cracked the headstock on the mic stand toward the end of the track giving rise to . . . some. . . .er . . . improvisation. . . A few tracks we don't wheel out that often were requested in the shape of Fuel and Don't Tread On Me and both went down a storm.
Caged Asylum also offers something a little different from the usual metal venue in the form of lovely ladies in the business of Private Dancing of the lap variety. Needless to say Chris's cash was held for him less he spend the lot on lovely lady dances! Others in the band got free dances from members of the crowd later . . . why not me? Never me. . . Booo!
Hi to Flick and Lauren from Gig Junkie whom it was a pleasure to meet. . . Will they be brave enough to air that interview? We'll wait and see!
Good to see Daniel, Luke, Pippa,Tina, John & Vicki and a special mention to Lee Gosselin from Jersey who made it to our gig the night after seeing Machine Head. Thanks to Joolz for running the show and we'll be back some time soon. Check out Facebook for pics.
